No text in game

So I've installed the game and everything works fine except that there's no text in game.

Before I set my computer to Japanese I would get the usual jibberish, but now I get nothing, I'd post a screenshot but I think its pretty straightforward, the text is simply missing. I can still play the game but its hard to get to the desired ending when the options panels are blank. (And I assume I can't use AGTH if there's no text)

I do appear to have Japanese text installed I did however skip using the CD (as I don't know if I have it, I think my computer came with XP installed.)

If anyone has an suggestions or knows whats going on it'd be great if you could help me out

Did you install the game before setting your system to Japanese? That might be your problem.
Uninstall the game and reinstall it.

I did initially and that's when I ended up with the jibberish, I've since tried uninstalling and reinstalling whilst the computer was set to Japanese and that's when no text appeared at all, all I can think of is that I should try to find the Windows disk, but I'm not sure if I have it... and the title text comes up in Japanese just fine. Well I guess I'll try to find this CD and hopefully that will solve things, if not I really have no idea what could be wrong.

You may be missing a Japanese text font. The standard ones are usually installed when you first switch to East Asian language support, but some games use different fonts.

I think that must have been the problem, I downloaded some fonts awhile ago and that's fixed it

Hello, everyone! 
I just try to install and play Togainu no Chi...
I already have Japanese system file, fonts, even I also installed the IME (Input Method Edoitor -- tool for writing in Japanese).
But the text in the game still like 'mojibake'

The title bar shown in undecoded Shift-Jis.
The speech and option only shown weird katakana and middle dot.
But the pause menu and Windows dialog box (e.g. in file name confirm when we want to save) displayed correctly in Japanese..
Any suggestion?

in my computer, the correct one should be:

写る
何も言わない

i think you need to set your system language to japanese. windows xp can support the files for other languages in english mode as well but it won't run japanese programs properly. the ingame menu and such are images so they will be the same regardless of your settings.
if that isn't an option try using applocale. there should be a thread about it in this section.
